I love this blog. I’m reminded of a Horrox family tradition that we had when I was growing up. Every Easter Monday, regardless of the weather, we would pack a picnic and head up into the Derbyshire hills to roll decorated hard boiled eggs down the first suitable slope we could find.

I still have memories of crouching behind dry stone walls clutching an egg and cress sandwich whilst waiting for a sudden snow squall to blow itself out. All this time my father would be struggling to light the primus stove. To this day, the smell of burning parafin takes me right back there.

I’m happy to say I continued the tradition with my own children and hope they will do the same with theirs.
